WWE NXT Card: Women’s Tag Team Titles on the Line (3/24/2021)

NXT Card Women's Tag Match

This week’s NXT features a stacked card, including a great title match and William Regal’s announcement regarding the NXT Tag Team Championship’s future. Also, the NXT Cruiserweight Champion Jordan Devlin and NXT UK Champion Walter make their returns to in-ring action for the NXT brand.  Let’s take a look at the NXT Card.

Oney Lorcan vs Karrion Kross

NXT Women’s Tag Team Championship Match: Shotzi Blackheart & Ember Moon (c) vs. The Robert Stone Brand (Aliyah & Jessi Kamea) w/Robert Stone

Shotzi Blackheart and Ember Moon look to establish themselves as fighting champions, taking on the women that assaulted them in Aliyah and Jessi Kamea. No offense to the challengers, but this match is designed purely to establish the champions further. There is a potential with the Robert Stone Brand in the future; that future will not start with this match. I expect Blackheart and Moon to begin building towards their feud for the upcoming Takeover: Stand and Deliver soon.

Karrion Kross vs. Oney Lorcan

Oney Lorcan looks to gain a measure of revenge for his injured partner by taking out Karrion Kross. Sadly for Lorcan, Kross has been on a rampage since his return and seeks to destroy everyone in his path. Lorcan is always a game opponent and puts up more of a fight than most expect him to. However, I expect that to lead to a prolonged beatdown by Kross, allowing Lorcan some time off until his partner is closer to returning.

Io Shirai & Zoey Stark vs. Raquel Gonzalez & Dakota Kai

NXT Card Women's Tag Match

Before they clash at Stand & Deliver, Io Shirai and Raquel Gonzalez will look to gain a mental edge with this tag team bout. At first glance, you would give Gonzalez and her partner Dakota Kai the advantage as they won the first Women’s Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic and were the first NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions. One might also still give them the edge as Shirai’s partner Zoey Stark, though impressive and valiant in her efforts, has come up short against her own partner and Kai. However, I could easily see Kai ultimately costing her team the match and suffering Gonzalez’s wrath to allow for a true one-on-one title match.

Jordan Devlin vs. KUSHIDA

Being Jordan Devlin’s return match, one would expect the reigning Cruiserweight Champion to walk away with the victory. However, KUSHIDA has seen his profile rise recently, although a loss to NXT North American Champion Johnny Gargano in their title match slowed down that momentum. There is little doubt Devlin and Interim champion Santos Escobar could have an amazing match at the upcoming Takeover, but WWE loves their multi-man matches. I could easily see a KUSHIDA victory leading to him being added to the match.

WALTER vs. Drake Maverick

This match will mark WALTER’s dominant return to NXT. While Drake Maverick has also seen a rise in profile, there is too much value built up in Imperium’s leader. Before Covid, WALTER was heading for a clash with Finn Balor, and I fully expect WWE to keep him in a similar position. Though it won’t happen at the next Takeover, Balor will need to face someone after he either defends or loses the title to Kross.
