WALTER Returns to WWE NXT

WALTER Now Gunther

On tonight’s episode of NXT, WWE United Kingdom Champion WALTER made his return to the black and gold brand. During the show, Tommaso Ciampa battled Marcel Barthel of IMPERIUM. Despite a valiant effort from Barthel, it was Ciampa that emerged victorious. However, by the end, it wasn’t the former NXT Champion that was left standing. In fact, Ciampa was in for a world of hurt as the familiar theme of “Symphony No. 9” could be heard.

WALTER made his return to NXT, marching down the ramp to confront Ciampa. The former NXT Champion showed no fear, beckoning WALTER to enter the ring. As he did so, Ciampa was attacked by the other members of IMPERIUM. After leveling Ciampa with a massive chop, WALTER dropped him with a powerbomb in the center of the ring. Alongside Barthel and Fabian Aichner, WALTER stood over the fallen body of Ciampa.

This episode of NXT marks WALTER’s first appearance on the show since Fall 2019. Following the COVID-19 pandemic, WALTER has remained in the United Kingdom, competing for the NXT UK brand. It was there that he continued to successfully defend the United Kingdom Championship, thwarting the efforts of Ilja Dragunov in late 2020 and A-Kid this past January. At over 700 days, WALTER’s reign with the United Kingdom Title remains the longest since its inception in 2017.
