Kofi Kingston Takes The Miz’s Spot in the Elimination Chamber

Kofi Kingston

On this week’s episode of Monday Night RAW, The Miz made a startling announcement. Following an interview gone wrong with WWE Champion Drew McIntyre, The Miz decided that he would be removing himself from the Elimination Chamber Match for said title. He also threatened cashing in his Money in the Bank opportunity on that night, regardless of who was champion. Afterward, he teased that his friend, John Morrison, would be taking his spot. However, it would ultimately be Kofi Kingston that foiled these plans.

In regard to Morrison, WWE Official Adam Pearce said that he would take it under advisement. Later in the show, Pearce was approached by Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston of The New Day. They questioned the possibility of Morrison being inserted into the Elimination Chamber. Kingston made his case for being in the match, stating that he was a WWE Champion as well. This was quickly objected to by The Miz. Pearce made the decision to pit Kingston and The Miz against one another in singles action later in the night. If The Miz won, Morrison would be added to the Elimination Chamber Match; if Kingston won, it would be Kingston that claimed the spot.

The match between The Miz and Kingston was competitive, to say the least. These men have competed against one another multiple times in the past, though the stakes couldn’t have been higher than they were on this night. While Kingston relied on his high-flying, dynamic offense, The Miz attempted to keep the match as grounded as possible. Ultimately, following an S.O.S., it was Kingston that claimed the win, leaving a stunned Miz behind. Kingston was now in the Elimination Chamber Match for the WWE Championship.

Now that Kofi Kingston is in the Elimination Chamber Match for the WWE Championship, the possibility of KofiMania 2 is as strong as ever. Will he be able to emerge from the Elimination Chamber as a two-time WWE Champion? Keep in mind that Kingston must not only contend with the WWE Champion in Drew McIntyre, but Randy Orton, Jeff Hardy, AJ Styles, and Sheamus.
