The Miz Wins MITB Briefcase, Tucker Turns

Hell in a Cell

In a move some of us saw coming, The Miz captured the Money in the Bank briefcase from Otis at the Hell in a Cell PPV.  To make matters worse for Otis, the finish came as a result of Heavy Machinery partner, Tucker, turning on his now former friend.  The Miz – and John Morrison – will likely move onto bigger and better things and, maybe, a second world championship run for Miz.  Meanwhile, Otis will no doubt become embroiled in a feud with Tucker.

Briefcases Have Been Lost Before

Though it is rare for one superstar to lose the MITB briefcase to another, it has happened before.  Perhaps most memorably, Mr Kennedy lost the MITB briefcase to Edge back in 2007.  Much like Miz, Edge was a former winner of the briefcase.  The end of Heavy Machinery is perhaps upsetting, but it was the right time.  Otis was on fire pre-COVID; becoming one of the most naturally over superstars in the company.  Without an audience, he has struggled to maintain momentum and perhaps a rivalry with his former tag team partner will reignited the fire Otis needs to recapture what he had.  The Miz, however, will now be looking for his first world championship since 2010.  With Roman Reigns the top dog on a SmackDown, maybe Miz will need look to greener pastures on RAW.  Regardless, this has been an interesting change and one may only wonder where it leads.
