Sean Maluta Debuts on AEW Dynamite

Sean Maluta

This week, Sean Maluta made his All Elite Wrestling debut on AEW Dynamite. In the second match of the night, he faced Lance Archer, accompanied by Jake “The Snake” Roberts in singles competition. Not unlike other singles matches of Archer, it featured the “Murderhawk Monster” asserting his authority on his smaller opponent. Even when it looked like Archer had the match won, such as after a chokeslam, he continued to toy with Maluta. The match concluded with the Blackout followed by the EBD Claw. In short order, Archer picked up the victory.

Born in New York, Sean Maluta began his professional wrestling career in 2004. He saw success in World Xtreme Wrestling C4 early on as “Samoan Dragon,” winning the WXW Ultimate Hybrid Championship in 2008. Under his real name, he would go on to hold other titles in the promotion, including the Cruiserweight Championship and Heavyweight Championship, both of which he held three times each.

Wrestling fans may be more familiar with Sean Maluta through his appearances in WWE. He debuted for the company in 2016, competing in the first-ever Cruiserweight Classic, which brought wrestlers from around the world to compete against one another. In the first round, Maluta was defeated by Kota Ibushi. Maluta started to appear for the company sporadically in question in 2016, facing the likes of Hideo Itami and Bobby Roode in NXT. He even made a few appearances for 205 Live, WWE’s cruiserweight-focused program, further showcasing his abilities.
