Stardom Gold May 2019

Stardom returns to Korakuen Hall for Stardom Gold with a big match between Momo Watanabe and Arisa Hoshiki as the Shining Star looks to dethrone the new ace and take her Wonder Of Stardom Championship.  Tokyo Cyber Squad also aim to earn their first championships since their formation as they challenge for the Artist Of Stardom titles and Bea Priestley defends her newly won World Of Stardom Championship against Hazuki.

Gauntlet Tag Team Match: Oedo Tai (Andras Miyagi & Natsuko Tora) vs STARS (Starlight Kid & Hanan) vs Tokyo Cyber Squad (Ruaka & Rina) vs Queen’s Quest (Leo Onozaki & Hina)

Miyagi and Tora are a powerhouse tag team that could be an exciting addition to the Stardom tag team scene.  They appear to be clear winners of this match as the other teams are mostly made up of much younger and less experienced talent who usually serve as pin eaters.  The STARS duo present the biggest challenge but neither Hanan or Starlight Kid are as protected as Miyagi.  The TCS and QQ teams are still gelling so they may have a few moments of miscommunication during this one.

Saya Iida vs Death Yama-San vs Natsu Sumire

Poor Iida gets thrown in there with two of the strangest personalities in Stardom.  Kaori Yoneyama has embraced her new faction and become Death Yama-San a KISS looking wrestler who throws up the rock-on sign at every opportunity.  Sumire is a very egotistical woman who disdains the young wrestlers in Stardom and believes she is above them but often loses to them.  Usually, a younger wrestler like Iida hasn’t got much chance against two veterans but Yama and Sumire are both comedy characters that can absorb a loss and Iida is booked to be the best of the current crop of rookies.

Toni Storm vs Kagetsu

Toni Storm is one of the most protected performers in Stardom with a win percentage of almost 70%.  Kagetsu is the last Stardom performer to have beaten Storm in singles competition when she beat Storm for the World Of Stardom Championship in June 2018.  Kagetsu is one of Stardom’s Big Four and is also a very protected performer and one of the only ones with a chance of beating/drawing with Storm.  The chances of there being a winner in this one are slim to none as Storm is a draw specialist when it comes to Korakuen Hall

World Of Stardom Championship: Bea Priestley (c) vs Hazuki

Hazuki managed to shock Priestley during the Cinderella Tournament and eliminated her in the first round.  Since then Priestley has defeated Hazuki’s stablemate Kagetsu for the World Of Stardom championship and now makes her first defense against the brash High Speed Champion Hazuki.  Priestley won’t lose in her first defense and Hazuki isn’t hurt by these as she is the standard bearer in the High Speed division.

Artist Of Stardom Championship: STARS (Mayu Iwatani, Tam Nakano & Saki Kashima) (c) vs Tokyo Cyber Squad (Hana Kimura, Konami & Jungle Kyona)

This match has only been made to get these titles off of Mayu.  Mayu Iwatani is still rehabbing her knee injury and in storyline was hesitant to accept this match as she isn’t fully fit yet.  TCS will probably win and get their first championships since the group formation and the push of Kimura, Konami and Kyona looks to continue.

Wonder Of Stardom Championship: Momo Watanabe (c) vs Arisa Hoshiki

When Arisa Hoshiki announced her comeback she made sure to call out the likes of Momo Watanabe for their “fake kicks”.  That little moment all the way back in October planted the seed for this match.  Watanabe has taken the mantle of “ace” from Io Shirai and has been just as dominant as her predecessor making a record-breaking 13 successful defenses of the Wonder Of Stardom championship, which she has held for 354 days and counting.  Watanabe’s reign faces it’s biggest challenge to date from Arisa Hoshiki.  Hoshiki was originally seen as a potential star in her first run in Stardom and was one of the more talented women on the roster, now that she is back and wrestling full time there is a clear path to the main event for Hoshiki.  Hoshiki has momentum after winning the Cinderella Tournament and now has her opportunity to dethrone Watanabe.
