Mia Yim Begins at WWE Performance Center

While no official announcement has been made by either the WWE or Mia Yim herself, it appears that Mia Yim has begun training at the WWE Performance Center, which would indicate that the Mae Young Classic competitor has been signed by the company. In a tweet sent out by NXT’s Twitter account this afternoon, it stated that “our female Superstars” were working out at the PC, and at about the 1:14 mark of the video, Mia Yim is spotted working alongside the other NXT women.

Mia Yim herself retweeted the video. The video comes two days after Yim posted a photo on her social media of her and boyfriend, current NXT Superstar Keith Lee, at Disney World on Sunday, with the words “perfect celebration before a new chapter”, most likely referencing her start with the WWE on Monday.

Mia Yim has been one of the most popular and dominant women’s wrestlers of the past decade, the 29-year old Yim has been wrestling for nearly a decade, starting with the likes of Jersey All Pro Wrestling (JAPW) and joining SHIMMER soon after. Since then, she’s blossomed everywhere she’s worked, including Shine, Combat Zone Wrestling (CZW), Absolute Intense Wrestling (AIW), Beyond Wrestling, Queens of Combat (QOC), Women’s Superstars Uncensored (WSU), Smash Wrestling and many, many more, including tours in the UK and Japan. She is a former Shine Champion and Shine Tag Team Champion, as well as a Queen of Southside Champion in the UK with Southside Wrestling Entertainment (SWE).

To more mainstream fans, she may best be remembered for her near four year run with IMPACT Wrestling as the mysterious Jade, where she captured the Knockouts Championship. Her final feud in IMPACT was against Rosemary, in a tremendous war that really put both of them on the map. Mia Yim departed IMPACT in the beginning of 2017, and competed in the first Mae Young Classic last year. A return entrant in this year’s tournament, it appears she’s now finally realized her dream of working with the WWE on a full time basis. While no details have been announced, the video implies she’s with the NXT women’s roster, where she’ll feel right at home – she’s also the room mates of former NXT Women’s Champion Shayna Baszler and Jessamyn Duke.
