Manchester United striker, Benjamin Sesko is on course to be fit for the beginning of the season despite not playing since early May.
The Slovenian hit good form under Michael Carrick towards the end of the season, however, suffered a shin injury that forced him to miss the final three games of the season. The Sun have reported that he’s scheduled to return to action before the beginning of the season, giving Manchester United a much needed boost in attack.

Benjamin Sesko Injury Update
Having scored 11 Premier League goals in his opening season at Old Trafford, there’s little denying that Sesko is an emerging talent for Manchester United. More often than not, the Slovenian shone off the bench and was able to score decisive goals at crucial times for Michael Carrick’s reds.
With that being said, the 23 year old missed seven games through injury, including the final three games of the season. It was reported that Sesko suffered a shin injury which was aggravated when he played against Liverpool in a 3-2 victory. He hasn’t featured for The Red Devils since.
Benjamin Sesko also didn’t feature in any of Manchester United’s first two pre-season friendlies, a loss to Wrexham and a comprehensive 5-0 win over Rosenborg. With that being said, the Slovenian could feature against Atletico Madrid on Saturday and should play some part against European champions, Paris Saint-Germain on August 8th.

Michael Carrick’s Striking Options
The return of Benjamin Sesko will provide a much needed boost to Manchester United’s attacking force as they don’t appear to be focused on a striker in this summer transfer window.
Sesko would likely serve as Carrick’s main striking option assuming he stays fit throughout the season. Bryan Mbuemo served as back-up to Sesko last season despite operating better from the right wing.
Joshua Zirkzee is yet to prove himself in a United shirt and is seemingly looking at the exit door ahead of the 2026/27 season. The Dutchman is stuck in between positions and it isn’t clear if he’s an out and out striker or a number 10. With Juventus seemingly interested in the 25 year old and United open for the move, it is even more important that Benjamin Sesko hits form ahead of the season.

The Reds are also set to welcome back Marcus Rashford to the fold as the Englishman’s loan to Barcelona was not turned into a permanent deal. Rashford could allow Matheus Cunha to push forwards into a more central role and take his place on the wing.
Manchester United will travel to league newcomers Hull on August 22 to kick off their Premier League campaign.
