Aside from the controversies, we have witnessed many moments of brilliance from players such as Jude Bellingham, Lionel Messi, and Erling Haaland. Ahead of the final at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, former two-time undisputed champion Oleksandr Usyk spoke to Fight Hype TV, revealing who he’s backing in the final.

It feels like only yesterday the squads were being announced for the 2026 World Cup, but here we are: it’s time for Spain vs Argentina to decide who will be crowned champions of the world. 

Spain produced a composed performance in the semi-final, which saw them defend well and take their chances to beat France 2-0. That performance epitomised their run to the final, where it feels like there is still more to come, and they have just done enough, which is a scary prospect.

Argentina are the tournament’s top scorers, but their route to the final has been anything but straightforward. They have navigated through challenging moments against Cape Verde, Switzerland, Egypt, and most recently, England.

Usyk Talks Spain vs Argentina

When asked who he’s backing in the Spain vs Argentina final:

“I want Spain to win,” said the former two-time undisputed heavyweight champion. “I support Spain because Portugal lose, now Spain.”

When asked for his favourite Spanish players, Usyk gave some older names: “It’s amazing. Ramos, Puyol, amazing. A lot of names. Now, Laporte, Rodri, Yamal, new star, 19 years old. Spain plays on a different level,” said Usyk.
