Germany vs Paraguay: Germany's Kai Havertz during training

Germany vs Paraguay Predicted Lineup and Team News for Balanced Game on June 29

After both teams managed to navigate their way out of the group, Last Word on Football provides you with the Germany vs Paraguay team news and a predicted lineup for each team.

Germany topped their group with six points and a superior goal difference (+6) to that of the Ivory Coast. Paraguay haven’t had as successful a tournament thus far, finishing third in their group with a win, a draw and a loss. With that being said, they offer a different style to that which Germany has seen so far during the tournament, so this Germany vs Paraguay fixture could provide an upset.

Germany Team News

The Germans have had no new injury concerns, only form concerns.

Prior to their final group game, a loss to Ecuador, huge news broke out of the Germany camp as Julian Nagelsmann’s starting left centre back in the first two games, Nico Schlotterbeck, has been ruled out of the rest of the World Cup with an injury to the medial collateral ligament in his left ankle.

Schlotterbeck was replaced by Rudiger, whilst Raum replaced Brown due to a muscle injury; however, Brown is expected to return. Kai Havertz, despite not producing the numbers that Deniz Undav has, kept his place.

Germany are yet to fully reach their best, but after three games, coach Julian Nagelsmann will be hoping that they turn up in the Gillette Stadium.

Paraguay Team News

The biggest news for the Paraguay team is that they will welcome back former Newcastle attacker Miguel Almiron from his one-match suspension. Almiron became the first player to be sent off for covering his mouth during an altercation with an opponent.

After two yellow cards in the group stages, Brighton midfielder Diego Gomez is suspended. He’ll likely be replaced by Damian Bobadilla. Omar Alderete faces a late fitness test to see if he’ll feature in the Germany vs Paraguay game.

With back-to-back clean sheets and impressive performances, Paraguay goalkeeper Orlando Gill will be back in the spotlight against a Germany team that has something to prove.
