Arsenal’s 2025/26 season saw them end a 22-year wait for a Premier League title, as their consistency throughout the campaign saw them deservedly lift the trophy. They suffered heartbreak in the Champions League final, losing to Paris Saint-Germain on penalties, and will be eager to go one step further this coming season. Ahead of the 2026/27 season, the Gunners have already signed Piero Hincapie to a permanent deal, and have now reportedly made a verbal offer to sign Bruno Guimaraes from Newcastle United.
Arsenal Look to Strengthen Ahead of 2026/27
Arsenal Make Their Move for Bruno Guimaraes
Arsenal waited 22 years to win a Premier League title, and the club will be determined to make it back-to-back successes. They were strong defensively, controlled the game in midfield, and scored goals at the right time. This pattern saw them stay ahead of the pack for most of the campaign and stave off a late-season revival from Manchester City.
Most teams around them in the table are already active in the window, looking to close the gap on Mikel Arteta’s team. If the Gunners can strengthen in the right areas, they will be tough to overhaul this season.

Verbal Offer Made for Bruno Guimaraes
Ahead of the 2026/27 season, Arsenal have made their move for Brazilian international Bruno Guimaraes, who is currently at the World Cup representing his country. The midfielder has previously been described as a “difference maker” and would add creative flair to Arteta’s midfield.
The offer has been described as a verbal offer from Arsenal, communicated through intermediaries, and is worth less than £60 million, which was rejected by Newcastle, who are having to deal with interest from Tottenham for Sandro Tonali.

What Guimaraes Would Bring to the Emirates
The Brazilian is considered among the best central midfielders in the league. He’s highly effective as a No.6 or No.8. He can do the “ugly stuff” while also retaining the ability to pick a pass to unlock an opposition defence.
He’s adept at picking up the ball from deep and dictating the play, but also has that killer creative instinct needed to be considered an elite player. He’s comfortable in possession and rarely looks flustered. He also brings a defensive side to a team where he knows when to sit and when to go, for the benefit of the team.
He would bring a drive to an Arsenal team that already knows how to win. He would be a great option for Arteta to complement what he already has at his disposal.
