Netherlands vs Sweden Team News and Confirmed Lineups
Netherlands Team News
Last time out, Bart Verbruggen remained in between the sticks. He was a concern following the friendly against Uzbekistan, but was in good enough shape to start over Robin Roefs or Mark Flekken.
Up top, Donyell Malen was preferred to Memphis Depay, though the latter had recently recovered from a thigh injury. Perhaps, we will see more change after the frustrations against Japan.
There are no fresh injury concerns ahead of the Sweden clash. Jurrien Timber remains the only player to have been sidelined for a substantial amount of time. With plenty of options in all positions, could the Netherlands opt for more changes?
Sweden Team News
On the contrary, Sweden is flying high after a perfect first game. Graham Potter’s side dismantled Tunisia, with five goals along the way. Brighton’s Yasin Ayari managed a brace, whilst Alexander Isak, Viktor Gyokeres and Mattias Svanberg also chipped in. The start to a tournament can’t get much better than this, but the question is, can Sweden build on the momentum?
In terms of injuries, Gabriel Gudmundsson, Leeds’ wing-back, was forced off against Tunisia. However, the issue isn’t considered substantial, and should allow him to be present. Among the many impressive performances in last week’s game, Lucas Bergvall also managed an assist. The 20-year-old came off the bench and may remain there due to the excellent display from Ayari.
