Portugal Team News

The main news for Portugal is that the PSG contingent of Vitinha, Nuno Mendes, Goncalo Ramos, and Joao Neves will not be available for this game, given they just finished their season last weekend.

Matheus Nunes has missed the last couple of days of training, while Joao Felix did individual training in the gym before joining the group. Portugal manager Martinez recently spoke about his squad: “Unfortunately, Matheus Nunes is not yet fit to train. It’s not the time to take risks. Let’s hope he’s available for the game against Nigeria. As for Joao Felix, it’s a different case; I think he’ll be available for the Chile game.”

Chile Team News

Nicolas Cordova was promoted from the youth team in late 2025 and is still in charge. Chile did win three friendlies at the end of last year and, more recently, defeated Cape Verde 4-2 in Auckland and lost 4-1 to New Zealand.

Since winning back-to-back Copa America competitions in 2015 and 2016, Chile have been in free fall. It’s clear Cordova has a huge job on his hands against Portugal and beyond.

Long gone are the glory days of Arturo Vidal and Alexis Sanchez. Lawrence Vigouroux of Swansea City will start in goal, while Sao Paulo’s Gonzalo Tapia will likely start in attack, supported by Dario Osorio.

Portugal Predicted Lineup

Costa, Cancelo, Inacio, Dias, Dalot, Samu, Neves, Leao, Fernandes, Silva, Ronaldo.

Chile Predicted Lineup

Vigouroux, Suazo, Sierralta, Maripan, Lichnovsky, Pizarro, Loyola, Sepulveda, Osorio, Gutierrez, Tapia.
