Levi Colwill Injury Status vs Nottingham Confirmed

Despite not playing until Monday, Calum McFarlane spoke to the media on Friday to give his pre-match conference. During this, he spoke on a number of things like Liam Rosenior, the win over Leeds, and provided some injury updates on key players ahead of the return to league action. One important name that he spoke about was Levi Colwill who has recently been making his return to action from a long-term ACL injury.

Latest Update From Calum McFarlane

The interim coach provided the latest on two defenders as he spoke about Colwill and fellow Cobham graduate Reece James. The duo have been notable absences to the back line and the squad as a whole as they are two of the main leaders within the group and have been missed in their different absences.

While James is confirmed to be back in training, the more interesting note was that Colwill could potentially be in the squad on Monday. The centre-back played for the Under 21s in recent outings marking his first minutes on the field since pre-season and we could see him eased back into action.

What This Means for Chelsea

A return for Colwill should excite fans, the back line has looked shaky for a lot of the campaign and a big reason for that has been his absence. Under Enzo Maresca in his debut season, the Englishman formed a strong partnership with Wesley Fofana until the Frenchman got hurt and later formed a formidable duo with Trevoh Chalobah to see out the term.

Both Chalobah and Fofana, as well as Tosin Adarabioyo, have all been worse without the presence of the Cobham graduate; his leadership skills and versatility allowed him to partner almost any kind of profile, something the Blues have lacked in their partnerships this year.
