How England Have Lined-up Recently

In England’s last competitive match, they also faced Andorra in the reverse fixture of this match. They suffered a historic defeat to Senegal three days later, but in a friendly with a presumably less first-choice lineup.

Against Andorra, Jordan Pickford started in goal, highlighting how this was more of a first-choice lineup. Reece James played slightly out of position at left-back, with Curtis Jones interestingly at right-back. Dan Burn and Ezri Konsa started as centre-backs in a squad slightly ravaged by various injuries.

Jordan Henderson started amidst criticisms over his selection in the squad. Jude Bellingham and Cole Palmer appeared to play as two tens, a devastating combination on paper, with the duo arguably the two most talked about England players in the last year. Noni Madueke and Morgan Rogers were both given opportunities to showcase their talents on the wings.

Harry Kane, captain, led the line and scored the only goal, proof of his ever-present impact on the side.

England’s Recent Form and Tactics

England’s last fixture was a defeat to Senegal, 3-1 in an international friendly. This was the first time an African country had defeated the Three Lions, after 22 attempts. Furthermore, in the reverse fixture of this Andorra match, Tuchel’s side only managed a 1-0 victory, though did create 4.00 expected goals.

Life under the new manager hasn’t been exceptional in his four matches, though he has achieved a perfect record from his three competitive fixtures (World Cup qualifiers), winning each one with a clean sheet.

England Injuries and Absences to Consider

Thomas Tuchel has to face the upcoming two fixtures with quite a few key injuries. Four big names were not available for selection: Bukayo Saka, Phil Foden, Cole Palmer, and Jude Bellingham are all out for varying periods of time.

This group have all played major roles in previous tournaments, and will surely feature in the 2026 World Cup. To have them out will arguably affect their, and the team’s, ability to prepare for the tournament, more than their chances of qualifying. Meanwhile, another reasonably important name in Levi Colwill was unavailable for selection.

Additionally, Adam Wharton and John Stones have both pulled out of the camp, with the former suffering an issue in his final game for Crystal Palace before the break. Meanwhile, Stones came to the camp, but minor muscle issues had not progressed as hoped, and so he has now left.

England Predicted Lineup Vs Andorra

England face Serbia just three days after Andorra, and so it is expected that Tuchel will prioritise his key players for the latter fixture, which will likely be the more competitive game.
