Leeds United Make Last-Minute ‘Push’ for ‘Wizard’ to Bring ‘Critical Improvement’ to Squad

With the summer transfer window deadline almost upon us, many clubs are still racing to complete deals. Leeds United are one of these, as they could still do with more attacking options, despite signing ten players already. They have been linked with many names, but Harry Wilson is one that could potentially still happen in these last minutes.

Leeds United Make Last-Minute Push for Attacking Reinforcement

Talks for Harry Wilson

Beren Cross, of The Athletic, has revealed that Leeds United are in talks for Wilson, who is currently under contract at Fulham. The right-winger has started just one out of three league games so far for the Cottagers. It is reported that after losing out on Facundo Buonanotte, Leeds reassessed and decided to make a “push” for the “Welsh wizard”.

Miguel Delaney reported the deal as “currently on” despite having “a few difficulties” with the transfer earlier today.

Why Do Leeds Need Wilson?

Cross pointed out that Wilson is an incredible set-piece taker, which would bring a “critical improvement” to Daniel Farke’s squad. Their transfer strategy has been based around physical, aerially superior players this summer. Whilst this is for reasons outside of attacking set-pieces, it would be a big bonus in their bid for survival if they can score some goals from dead-ball situations. The 28-year-old would easily become their first-choice taker of free-kicks and corners.

Meanwhile, it is clear that the Whites need another attacker: Farke even said it himself. However, they have a lot of options on the left-hand side, with Noah Okafor coming in this summer to join Willy Gnonto, amongst others. Bringing in a talented, right-sided winger would be a big reinforcement.
