Marcus Rashford will potentially face a permanent departure from his boyhood Manchester United this summer. After a positive loan spell at Aston Villa, it still seems that his parent club will likely look to sell to help fund their summer rebuild under new manager Ruben Amorim.

Price Tag Equal to Aston Villa’s Buy Option
Rashford had a very strong half-season at Villa Park, after Unai Emery brought him in on loan for one of the most impressive moves of the January transfer window. Fabrizio Romano reveals that Villa do have a £40 million buy-option in this contract, but that United have also made the forward available for the same price to any other club this summer.

Romano continues to explain that the player will “assess all options ahead of the summer transfer window”, hinting at a potential new destination.
Where Could Rashford Go?
Despite falling out of favour at Old Trafford and arguably struggling towards the end of his time there, Rashford must still be defined as a “star” due to his high-profile and undoubted natural ability and potential.
Of course, Villa are still a potential destination, after they secured Europa League football for next season. Emery is a fantastic coach and Rashford has already proven that he can thrive there under that system surrounded by those players.

However, at 27-years-old, he is in what should be the prime years of his career and doesn’t have quite as long left as he once did. The England international may be wanting to display his talents in the Champions League next season, either to secure a move to another elite club, or to get himself back into the national team squad under new manager Thomas Tuchel.
This could potentially mean a switch to the continent, as it seems unlikely that he would join one of United’s rivals who play in the UCL next season.
