How Much Will United Have to Pay for Cunha Signing?
Fabrizio Romano has reported that the Red Devils are moving closer to their first signing of the 2025 summer transfer window as they make fresh progress in talks to sign the Brazilian forward. It’s claimed that there are “discussions advancing to the final stages” to get this deal over the line, with negotiations opening towards the end of April (2025). It’s stated that United will now have to start discussing the payment structure for Cunha’s £62.5 million release clause.

The journalist also claims that United have now prepared an important contract proposal for Cunha and a positive outcome is expected when it comes to the response from the player’s camp. It’s added that Ruben Amorim has approved the signing and the club envisions the Brazilian as their ideal candidate to play behind the no.9, as well as having the potential to improve even further by joining the Red Devils.
Romano also claims that the 25-year-old has accepted Manchester United’s project for him and that agreement on the personal terms are being finalised. He states that only final details need to be approved by all parties before the deal will be fully agreed upon.
How Can Cunha Fit in at United?
Ruben Amorim’s side can definitely be improved by the arrival of the Brazilian forward. The 25-year-old has been an impressive figure for Wolves in the 2024/25 Premier League campaign, having scored 15 goals and provided six assists for them in 31 appearances. He’s played in a variety of roles, which include attacking midfield, second striker and even centre-forward.

Cunha is a highly versatile player who can fit into any role in the attacking front, which can improve the depth of attacking options for the Red Devils. He will, however, be eyed to play in that attacking midfield role in Amorim’s 3-4-3 formation, as they’ll hope he can form a partnership with Bruno Fernandes. The Brazilian forward was hailed as “incredible” by ex-Brazil international Julio Baptiste earlier this season and can definitely strengthen their goal-scoring and creative ability if the deal gets done.
