Leicester City Set To Include Teenage Duo In F.A Cup Squad

Leicester City has been in poor form as of late as they have picked up just one win in their last nine league games. However, heading into their highly anticipated F.A Cup clash with Manchester United, a risk is going to be taken. Teenage duo Jake Evans (16) and Jeremy Monga (15) are set to be included in the Foxes’ squad after impressing for the academy.

Who Are The Two Wonderkids

Evans is the 16-year-old attacking threat at the heart of the club’s under-21 squad this season. He can play out wide or as a striker and is consistently proving his quality in front of goal. Three goals in his last three highlight his quality, despite playing against much older defenders.

The forward is powerful for his age, clinical in front of goal, and loves to get in behind the backline. This movement and ability to play on the shoulder is terrific and coupled with his finishing, he has been a danger all term.

Monga is the other talent set to be included in the squad. A tricky winger, who loves to be one-on-one with a defender. His direct running and ball carrying have been prominent aspects of his game and have even troubled defences in League One and Two.

He play on either side as he is both-footed and consistently uses this when cutting in and shooting. This makes him unpredictable and these raw attributes are perfect for the modern game. He has already been linked to clubs like PSG, Manchester City, and Chelsea, and it is no surprise.

Both players helped the Foxes win the U16 PL Cup and are playing a key role in their Under 21s squad this season.

Set To Be Included In The First Team Squad

First team manager Ruud van Nistelrooy said when talking to the press this morning:

“The FA Cup is also fantastic to add young players into my squad, a 15-year-old and a 16-year-old, They’re going to be part of the squad, on the bench, tomorrow.

He added “It’s an occasion where these things can happen, opportunities for players. They have names! The 15-year-old is Jeremy Monga and the 16-year-old is Jake Evans.

Before talking about the overall talent at the club right now: “It’s the same here. The first thing I did was look at the Under-21s, the Under-18s, join them in for regular first-team training, and get an idea of them. It’s not only looking outside to strengthen. There’s a great academy here and I look inside to strengthen. When players are good enough, the age doesn’t matter to me, and they can help the squad and the team.”

Huge words of praise from their manager, who clearly sees the talents that they both possess. If 15-year-old Monga does make an appearance against the Red Devils, it will be a record-breaking moment. The player will become the youngest Premier League player to play in the historic F.A. Cup. However, he wouldn’t become Leicester’s youngest-ever player.
