Sunderland Reject Huge Bid Plus See Bid for Midfielder Turned Down

Sunderland have rejected a huge offer from Brighton, believed to be £13 million, for highly-rated 18-year-old winger Tommy Watson. According to Fabrizio Romano, any deal is now off. Discussions had taken place but Brighton’s latest offer appears to be their last. The Seagulls attempted to sign Watson last summer and have failed once again.

18-year-old Watson has progressed through the youth ranks at Sunderland’s Academy of Light and impressed enough to be given a chance in the first team this season. He moved up the level to the senior squad with ease and was becoming a fan favourite until he was injured before Christmas. His form once again attracted interest from Brighton; however, The Black Cats were determined to keep their young and exciting winger.

Black Cats See Bid Rejected for Leicester City Midfielder

Sunderland appear determined to strengthen their squad as they push for promotion to the Premier League this season. According to The Athletic, the Black Cats have seen a bid for Leicester City midfielder Kasy McAteer rejected. It is believed that the bid was that of a loan until the end of the season with an obligation to buy for £8 million rising to £10 million with add-ons.

Despite the bid being rejected, this may not stop Sunderland from returning with an improved over. The versatile midfielder played 23 Championship games last season for the Foxes, scoring six goals as they gained promotion to the Premier League. This season he has featured 11 times in the top flight as City battle to stay in England’s top division.

Striker on Wearside Ahead of Loan Move

Liverpool striker Jayden Danns is reportedly on Wearside ahead of completing a loan deal until the end of the season. Danns had attracted interest from several clubs, including Hull City and Blackburn Rovers; however, it appears that Sunderland have won the race to sign the highly rated forward. The 19-year-old already has Premier League, Champions League and EFL Cup final experience and recently scored for the Reds in the FA Cup.
