West Ham United, now under the management of former Chelsea and Brighton manager Graham Potter, face Fulham in the Premier League. Kick-off is at 19:30 at the London Stadium. Last Word on Football brings you a West Ham Predicted Lineup.
West Ham Predicted Lineup vs Aston Villa
How West Ham Have Lined Up Recently
As previously stated, West Ham are now under the management of Graham Potter, who replaces Julen Lopetegui who was manager for just half a season of the Hammers. Albeit, we expect a similar early lineup to that of Lopetegui, with differing tactics.
Alphonse Areola returned to first-team football after he was sidelined with an injury. He replaced the injured Polish international Lukasz Fabianski who had started the last eight matches for Lopetegui’s side prior to the Liverpool match where the Hammers lost 5-0. He replaced Areola who was injured in a match against Tottenham. Despite Fabianski being stretchered off with an injury in a 1-0 win against Southampton on Boxing Day, he started against Aston Villa this weekend, returning to full fitness.

The back four against Aston Villa was Oliver Scarles at left-back, Max Kilman and Konstantinos Mavropanos as the centre-back partnership due to Jean-Clair Todibo’s injury, and Aaron Wan-Bissaka at right-back. Due to Emerson, who is the regular starting left-back, picking up an injury, it’s expected Vladimir Coufal will start yet again in that position.
Under a 4-2-3-1, Edson Alvarez and Tomas Soucek started as CDMs, with Guido Rodriguez making odd appearances here and there. Jarrod Bowen and Mohammed Kudus have played on the wings with Crysencio Summerville slotting in when his side has suspensions or injuries. Lucas Paqueta and Carlos Soler play as the attacking midfielder between the wingers.
Niklas Fullkrug has made appearances up front for the Hammers after coming on as a substitute. He has two goal involvements in nine appearances since joining from Dortmund. Albeit, the German striker has been injured for most of the season and that is the case once again, picking up an injury against Aston Villa in the FA Cup.
West Ham’s Recent Form
Lopetegui was brought in to obtain European football for West Ham. However, after a dismal start to the season, and just three wins in their last ten matches, he was sacked. West Ham’s last match came away to Manchester City, where they lost 4-1. This match came just a week after West Ham lost 5-0 at home to Liverpool where the hosts failed to register a single shot on target. In this match, Liverpool had 22 shots, 13 of which were on target.

Potter didn’t get off to a perfect start as West Ham manager, losing 2-1 to Aston Villa in the FA Cup third round, but the performance was much improved. The visitors took the lead in the match and defended well until late on in the second half. Albeit, there’s a lot to look forward to for the Hammers.
West Ham Injuries To Consider
Potter will have five injuries to consider. Star player Bowen picked up a foot injury in the Hammers home defeat against Liverpool, which rules him out until early March. One player that will be absent for much longer is Antonio. After his car accident, a return in June looks much more likely.
Emerson, who has felt physical discomfort recently, is a doubt about the match much like Todibo. Fullkrug, who had been riddled with injuries since his move to East London looks to be out until early February.
