‘Important Sell-On Clause’: Chelsea Close to Big Step In Offloading Deadwood Transfer

Chelsea have had a relatively quiet beginning to the 2025 January transfer window and have not been able to sign any players yet. However, they now seem to be close to sealing a possible sale in Cesare Casadei.

Which Clubs Are Interested In Casadei?

Fabrizio Romano has reported that Serie A club Torino are now preparing to make a new bid to sign the Italian midfielder in the January window. It’s also claimed that they are looking to include an “important sell-on clause” into the deal, which would give Chelsea the chance to acquire a decent amount of money from if the Italian club sell Casadei to another club in the near future.

This comes after it was reported that the Blues had rejected an initial £10 million offer from Torino for the possible sale of the 21-year-old midfielder and that they are holding out for a £15 million fee to let him leave. Romano has also claimed that Napoli are not willing to accept Chelsea’s conditions on the possible sale of Casadei and that they are now looking to close in on the signing of Philip Billing from Bournemouth instead.

How Has Casadei Fared for Chelsea?

The 21-year-old midfielder was signed by the London giants in 2022 from Inter Milan’s youth academy, but he has not been able to make a prominent mark for their senior team. Even though he spent the 2023/24 season on loan at Leicester City under Enzo Maresca, Casadei hasn’t done enough to be a key player for the Italian gaffer at Stamford Bridge.

He has only made six appearances for the Blues in the ongoing campaign, out of which five have come in the UEFA Europa Conference League; he’s not featured at all in the Premier League. The 21-year-old was even praised for being “physically strong” by the Italian coach, but it’s clear that they are ready to cash in on him for the right offer and give Casadei a chance to get regular playing time somewhere else.
