England Predicted Lineup Vs Finland as Lee Carsley Chases Perfect Record

England’s Recent Lineups

Lee Carsley began his tenure with a very strong lineup against Ireland, with fan favourite Jordan Pickford in goal. Trent Alexander-Arnold and Levi Colwill were the full-backs, with Euro 2024 starters Kyle Walker and Luke Shaw not fit enough to be in the squad. Meanwhile, Harry Maguire returned and started alongside Marc Guehi, with John Stones yet to start a match this season.

Kobbie Mainoo and Declan Rice continued their strong partnership in holding midfield. Harry Kane started up front as ever, though Bukayo Saka was the only other attacker to retain his spot after the Euro 2024 final. Jude Bellingham is currently injured, whilst Phil Foden withdrew from the squad alongside Ollie Watkins and Cole Palmer. Jack Grealish started in the ten role with Anthony Gordon on the left.

England’s Recent Form and Tactics

England performed admirably in Carsley’s first match as interim manager, with Grealish the star of the show. This led many to question whether he suits the side better than his Manchester City teammate, Foden. It felt as though the team flowed a lot better than it had done under Gareth Southgate.

Another impressive performer was Alexander-Arnold, who found his famous cross-field switch on numerous occasions. It is surprising that he found so little minutes or form at the Euros.

The story of the evening was that Grealish and Rice both scored against the nation that they had once represented. The latter played only in friendly matches for the senior team, allowing him to switch allegiance to the Three Lions, though he respectfully decided not to celebrate. The former appeared for Ireland at youth level and did express his passion after finding the back of the net.
