No Sell-On Fee for Leeds United

Last Word on Football understand from a source close to the deal that there is no sell-on fee. This could be a huge mistake, with the Dutchman just 22-years-old coming off the back of winning the Championship Player of the Season award. Liverpool and Chelsea have already shown interest; we could see West Ham sell the player on for a big fee in a few years.

Considering the low £25 million up-front payment, it is surprising that the Whites have not insisted on adding a sell-on fee.

Details on the Huge Add-Ons That Could See Fee Rise to £34 Million

There are numerous significant add-ons included in this deal. The fee paid by West Ham to Leeds United could rise from the initial £25 million to £34 million, should all the clauses be met.

Some of the basic add-ons include total appearances and total goals scored. These should be reached if Summerville continues his 2023/24 form.

The more extravagant clauses are more unlikely to be met. One payout requires the Hammers to qualify for the UEFA Champions League and, whilst the East London club did qualify for Europe in both 2022 and 2023, it seems highly improbable that they achieve this. Another clause is trophy-based. This did happen in 2023 and is arguably more likely than a top-four finish.

Crysencio Summerville to Play Minutes Against Crystal Palace?

The player will undergo his medical this morning (August 1). He will then fly to Miami as soon as possible to join up with the rest of Julen Lopetegui’s squad.

Assuming the medical is fine, the plan is for Summerville to play some minutes against Crystal Palace in this weekend’s pre-season friendly. However, a recent strain may prevent this.
