‘Aware of Interest’: Manchester United Facing Potential Loss of ‘Promising’ Club Member

Erik ten Hag's future in doubt after Newcastle 3-0 Man Utd

Struggles in the Champions League and English top flight have caused a stir on the pitch for Manchester United in the transfer window. In addition, according to Rich Fay, the Red Devils could lose another important member of their club.

Swansea City Eyeing Manchester United Assistant Coach Eric Ramsay

Swansea City Interest in Coach

The Englishman reported in an article for the Manchester Evening News that Swansea City are turning their quest for a new manager towards United assistant coach Eric Ramsay. Fay stated that the Red Devils ” are aware of the interest.” The 31-year-old joined the club in 2021 as a set-piece and development coach after previously coaching Chelsea’s U23 side.

Fay noted that “Ramsay has been made the odds-on favourite by bookmakers to take over at the Championship club.” It would not be his first stint with the Welsh outfit. The Englishman coached the club’s U18 and U21 teams and was even an assistant coach of the Welsh National Team for a brief period last year.

Fay stated that despite the odds favouring Ramsay getting the job, “the Manchester Evening News understands he is not currently the number-one choice for the role.” Swansea have been without a manager for a full month now, and have already failed in an effort to land Chris Davies.

Highly Regarded by United

United sees the interest in Ramsay as proof he is a “a highly-regarded coach.” After leaving Swansea, he would go on to become an academy manager at Shrewsbury Town. Arriving before Erik ten Hag did, the 31-year-old impressed enough that the Dutchman opted to keep him on his staff.

Swansea are not the first club to come calling for Ramsay. Blackpool attempted to appoint him as head manager a year ago, but with no success. He has been labelled “one of the most promising young British coaches.” A UEFA Pro-License coach, the youthful tactician is the youngest Brit to ever receive the license. He could be the man Swansea need to change their fortunes, but United will want to keep him.
