Spurs Targeting Gift Orban and Jonathan David As Kane Replacement

Have Spurs Made an Official Bid for Orban or David?

Fabrizio Romano has named Gent striker Gift Orban and Lille forward Jonathan David as two targets that Spurs are tracking, as they believe either can be ideal replacements for the departed Kane.

He told GiveMeSport: “Yes, both players are appreciated, but for both players at the moment, while we’re speaking, there is still no concrete negotiation. For Orban, they had some contacts on the player’s side. They pursued the player and had positive contacts because Orban is keen on a potential move to Premier League football and an important club like Tottenham. But, at the moment, there is still no official bid.”

With this latest update from Romano, it is confirmed that they are interested in signing both the young strikers but have not made an official bid for either. Orban is reported to be worth around £30 million to £40 million – but the Lilywhites are yet to decide how much they will fund the signing of Kane’s replacement after selling him for over £100 million.

What Qualities Do David and Orban Offer?

The two potential strikers Spurs are targeting have proven themselves as efficient goal-scorers for their respective teams over the last few seasons. Orban is a clinical, menacing forward who is an impressive finisher. The Nigerian forward has already scored six goals in seven appearances for Gent in the 2023/24 campaign and has 26 goals in 29 appearances for them.

David has also been making strides in Ligue 1 with Lille. He is a similar kind of goal-scorer to Orban, having scored 26 goals in 40 appearances last season for the French side. Both the young forwards have their best years ahead and can easily slot into the no.9 role under Ange Postecoglou, which is why Tottenham are eyeing the possibility of signing either of them to be their next star striker. It remains to be seen if the Lilywhites will make a move for either before the transfer window closes.
