Tottenham Line Up Ambitious Swap Deal Offer for ‘Fantastic’ £40 Milllion-Rated Forward; He Prefers Them Over Chelsea

Tottenham Hotspur are the Favourites to Sign Ansu Fati

Tottenham Hotspur seem to be accelerating their efforts to sign a suitable replacement for Harry Kane, who left for Bayern Munich earlier this month and left his former side in need of a new forward who can add goals to their team. According to The Times’ Tom Roddy, the Lilywhites are lining up an official bid to sign Nottingham Forest forward Brennan Johnson before the end of the summer transfer window.

What Are Spurs Open to Offering Nottingham Forest?

It is claimed that Spurs are ready to make a cash-plus-player swap offer for the 22-year-old, who is keen on joining them. Davinson Sanchez is reported to be the player that they are willing to send to Forest in return for Johnson, with Spurs also set to pay their fellow Premier League side a transfer fee for the forward.

The exact amount that they are ready to pay is still not mentioned, but Roddy indicates that the Welshman is valued at around £40 million by Steve Cooper’s side.

This comes after it was claimed that Johnson is quite eager to join Ange Postecoglou’s side and has even indicated that he prefers to join Tottenham over their London rivals Chelsea, who had an interest in him.

How Can Johnson Fit In at Tottenham?

The North Londoners are probably eyeing a move for Johnson after watching him impress for Forest in the Premier League last season, playing a key role in helping them avoid relegation to the Championship.

He scored eight goals and provided three assists across 38 appearances in the league, and also showcased admirable versatility by playing in a host of positions including right-winger, centre-forward, and attacking midfielder.

The Englishman’s flexibility to adapt to different roles and play almost anywhere in the frontline is probably why Postecoglou is keen on signing him. Johnson is blessed with an electric pace, can link up well to cause problems for the opposition, and is very clinical in the final third.

He was hailed as “fantastic” after scoring the winner in Forest’s 1-0 win over Leeds United last season and even though Tottenham seem determined to sign him, it remains to be seen if they can get a deal done before the window ends on September 1.
