Bayern Munich Confident of Signing Manchester United Target Harry Kane

Kane gives his word to Bayern

Hoeness was speaking to journalists at the Bavarian side’s pre-season training camp in Tegernsee when he disclosed the England captain’s desire to move from North London to the German side.

He said: “Harry Kane has very clearly signalled that his decision was made. If she stays [if he keeps his word], we will sign him. Because then, Tottenham will have to give in, because a club like that can not do without 80, 90 million, or how many it may be, that does not exist.

“He wants to play internationally and luckily for us, Tottenham won’t be there next year.”

Kane has spent his entire professional career at Spurs but has failed to win any silverware there. However, he recently became the club’s record goalscorer, amassing 280 goals to date. The England captain has also been closing in on Alan Shearer’s all-time Premier League goals tally, although, he still sits 47 behind the Newcastle United legend.

His impressive displays, both for Spurs and England, have led the striker to be described as a “world-class” player, but with just one year left on his contract, Tottenham are likely contemplating selling their star man in order to avoid losing him on a free next summer.

Kane’s reluctance to sign a new deal for Ange Postecoglou’s side had been a telling sign the player wanted to leave, but Hoeness’ comments have now confirmed the 29-year-old is seeking a move away – with Bayern his destination of choice.

Leaving for the German champions will almost certainly guarantee trophies as Bayern have dominated the Bundesliga over the last decade winning winning 11 titles in a row since 2013. Their Champions League victory in 2020, and consistent ability to go deep into the competition, will undoubtedly be of appeal to Kane in his quest to win titles.

Tough Negotiations

Hoeness also revealed that Karl-Heniz Rummenigge, a member of the club’s supervisory board and a club legend, is leading the negotiations and has been speaking directly with Kane and his advisors.

However, with Kane keen on the move, it is the dealings with Tottenham’s chief negotiator and chairman, Daniel Levy, that will prove the sticking point.

Levy is renowned for driving a hard bargain and has been tough in his stance over Kane in the past. In the summer of 2021, the Spurs head honcho would not be budged when Manchester City came knocking, rejecting four bids as the current European champions would not meet his £150 million asking price. Levy reiterated that point when reports of Manchester United taking an interest in Kane came about earlier this summer, but Erik ten Hag’s side are still hopeful a deal can be done.

Hoeness went on to describe Levy as “clever”, adding: “Of course, he plays for time, is a savvy, super professional who I appreciate very much. But on the other hand, there are also no people who have only been doing this since yesterday.”

Although it would seem that Bayern are in a strong position at this stage, with Kane wanting to leave, a fee of around £86 million is what is being speculated by Bild, and there is no guarantee the German club will meet Levy’s valuation.
