Chelsea forward Kai Havertz has emerged as a summer transfer target for Real Madrid, claims Spanish outlet Relevo. The La Liga giants are looking to strengthen their attacking line for next season and believe the Champions League final winner can be ideal for them.

Chelsea signed Havertz from Bayer Leverkusen for a major fee of over £60 million in 2020 and there were a lot of expectations from the German forward to be a key part of the club’s future. However, things haven’t exactly gone according to plans.

Relevo adds that Real Madrid are considering Havertz as an alternative if they can’t prise Harry Kane from Tottenham Hotspur. They realise that signing Kane could be difficult due to extravagant demands from Spurs chairman Daniel Levy, according to Revelo.
In addition, Relevo claims that not only would it cost less for Los Blancos to sign Havertz over Kane, but that new Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino would not mind if the German forward was to leave and be replaced by someone else, as he doesn’t consider Kai as a priority player in his squad. It’s stated that for Real Madrid, there is a possibility for Havertz to play in either of the two wings, as a false nine or just behind the striker too.
Havertz’s Chelsea Career Recapped
After arriving from Bayer Leverkusen in 2020, Havertz had a really eventful debut campaign at Stamford Bridge. He only scored nine goals across all competitions for the Blues in his debut campaign, but one vital one came in the winning strike against Manchester City in the 2020/21 Champions League final.

He has featured quite prominently for Chelsea ever since, mostly leading their line in the no.9 role. However, the 24-year-old has struggled to meet the expectations of being his side’s consistent goal-scorer and has gone through multiple periods of inconsistency. Havertz, who was hailed as ‘absolutely outstanding’ for scoring a penalty in his side’s Champions League Round of 16 second-leg winning clash against Borussia Dortmund a few months ago, has scored 32 goals and provided 15 assists in 139 appearances in his Chelsea career so far.
