‘Talks Ongoing’: Romano Drops Major Claim as Liverpool Youngster Expects to Leave, Klopp Resigned to Losing Him

Fabio Carvalho battles for the ball against Wolves

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that the club is planning to send Fabio Carvalho out on loan next season. This comes after the young Portuguese winger failed to secure regular game-time at Anfield this season following his arrival from Fulham last year.

Liverpool Confirm Summer Plans for Fabio Carvalho

Carvalho Could Be Loaned Out for More Experience

The 20-year-old winger attained a bright reputation in London and compelled the Reds to make a move for him last year, joining them for a fee of around £5 million last year after the deal actually broke down in January. After a decent start to his Liverpool career, things went a bit astray as he failed to get regular playing minutes in a topsy-turvy campaign for his side.

In a recent press conference, Klopp confirmed the plans for Carvalho and said: “I think there is a possibility that maybe Fabio will go on loan or whatever. We will see. The thing is, this was not Fabio’s best year of his career, clearly, in a very young career, but it might have been his most important. No player has impressed me more than Fabio, that’s the truth.

“Because this kind of very talented boy came here with big dreams and big expectations, it was OK in the beginning but didn’t work out in the end. His work ethic will give him a fantastic career. He trained while getting nothing. For players, there’s only one present you have each week: you line me up, if not that then take me in the squad. That’s my only chance to satisfy a player. If I don’t do that, it’s about how the player reacts – and his reactions, in a row, I never saw it before. Unbelievable. I’m not sure if he goes on loan or whatever, if we keep him, we will see.”

Carvalho Has Offers for Permanent Move

Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Liverpool have offers on the table to permanently sell Carvalho, just about a year after having signed him in the first place. It’s added that the Reds already have a number of loan proposals from Premier League clubs, but the youngster is yet to accept any one of them because the project of the interested party will be important to his decision.

The attacker only got to start four Premier League games for the club over the 2022/23 season and was mostly used as an impactful substitute by Klopp, which understandably frustrated the young winger. He made 21 appearances across all competitions for Liverpool, scoring three goals – including two in the league.

The 20-year-old is definitely a talented player who can play across multiple roles, such as a left-winger and as a no.10 if needed. He’s shown enough quality and versatility to succeed at a lower team which gives him more priority and builds their attack around him. That’s why Carvalho – who was hailed for having an ‘unbelievable’ work ethic by Klopp this season – is probably waiting on the best possible offer from a club that promises to build their team around him and play him in every single game to help develop his skills next season.
