Fulham Youngster Completes Liverpool Medical After Deal Agreed

Fulham

There was a lot of talk about an exciting youngster at Fulham who featured sparsely last season. Fabio Carvalho has since become a regular at Craven Cottage and he is living up to the hype and then some. It seems inevitable that Carvalho would have been playing Premier League football with Fulham but that doesn’t matter now though with the move to Anfield finally kicking on, as per reports from Fabrizio Romano. It was supposed to happen in January but complications saw it collapse.

Taking the Step up From the Championship

Fabio Carvalho will be joining the Reds from the Championship’s runaway leaders Fulham. He may be just 19 but he has contributed seven goals and seven assists in the league as Marco Silva looks to navigate the Londoners back to the top-flight. Alexsandar Mitrovic is getting most of the headlines, and rightly so given his record-breaking goalscoring tally, but that shouldn’t take away from Carvalho’s exploits.

An interesting comparison to be made is between Harry Wilson and Fabio Carvalho. The Welshman is six years Carvalho’s senior and yet is still on loan away from Merseyside. Having played for the likes of Derby County and Cardiff City, he is playing some of his better football with Fulham. Carvalho on the other hand will be hoping to get regular enough minutes at Liverpool and avoid falling into the loan system. This won’t be easy given the recent arrivals of Luis Diaz and Diogo Jota who have both fit in to the attacking unit seamlessly.

Where Will Fulham Star Fabio Carvalho Fit in at Liverpool?

Talking of fitting in at Liverpool and Fabio Carvalho is clearly highly admired by those at the club. Their pursuit of him has been fierce with Fabrizio Romano even revealing that the Portuguese international has “already visited AXA to meet face by face with Klopp and see the facilities.” They haven’t tried to hide their interest in the teenager at any point in their pursuit which would suggest that the German manager has high hopes for their newest signing.

Interestingly enough, “there’s no plan to loan him back to Fulham or elsewhere” and this could be an ideal time for Fabio Carvalho to arrive. Sadio Mane and Mo Salah are both 29 at the time of writing whilst Roberto Firmino is 30 and so the club need to have the future in mind. The Egyptian is of course still at the top of the game but Carvalho linking up with Diaz and Jota along with the likes of Harvey Elliott and Curtis Jones is a fascinating proposition indeed.

Fabio Carvalho still has Fulham as his main focus with the Cottagers having one hand on the Championship title already. He may not be loaned out by Liverpool next year but that isn’t a guarantee that he will play as much as he hopes to.
