Arsenal came into this game knowing that victory would extend their lead at the top of the table to an impressive eight points. However, a combination of a poor performance from the Gunners, as well as incredible determination from Sean Dyche’s Everton saw Mikel Arteta’s side slip to a disappointing defeat. Aaron Ramsdale – 6
The Englishman could do little about James Tarkowski’s goal and had it not been for his smart reaction save, the Toffees could have been two goals up.
Benjamin White – 5
Everton’s system made it difficult for White to make his usual overlapping runs. He was solid for the most part, without having much of an impact on the game.
William Saliba – 4
Arguably Arsenal’s worst performer over the course of the match. Showed his class at times, but was sloppy in possession and struggled to deal with the powerful Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
Gabriel Magalhaes – 6
The better of the two centre-backs. Dealt with Calvert-Lewin much better than Saliba and was excellent when dealing with balls into the box.
Oleksandr Zinchenko – 5
Tried to impact the game by moving into midfield, but, as many players in a red shirt did, he struggled to have any kind of impact on the game.

Thomas Partey – 4
Appeared to still be recovering from the injury he suffered against Manchester City recently and was taken off early in the second half. Sloppy on the ball at times and failed to provide the claiming presence in midfield that he often brings.
Granit Xhaka – 5
Xhaka didn’t play particularly badly but failed to have any kind of impact on the game in the final third.
Martin Odegaard – 4
Much like Xhaka, the Norwegian struggled to get into the game. When he did get on the ball, he was unable to create chances for Arsenal’s attacking players as a result of Everton’s fantastic defensive shape.
Bukayo Saka – 6
By far and away Arsenal’s brightest spark in the first half, although he was by no means anywhere near his best. Struggled much more in the second half, but still looked like the Gunners’ most likely route to a goal.
Eddie Nketiah – 5
Worked extremely hard out of possession, and probably should have done better with a chance from inside the box in the first half.
Gabriel Martinelli – 4
Martinelli’s work rate can never be questioned, however, his end product left a lot to be desired in this game. Seamus Coleman did a fantastic job of containing the Brazilian.

Jorginho (Substitute) – 5
The Italian displayed his trademark neat passing when on the ball, although did concede possession in his own half, although his lapse in concentration went unpunished.
Leandro Trossard (Substitute) – 5
He looked lively when he came on, but his end product was also disappointing. In particular, his two corners that failed to beat the first man would have frustrated Arteta.
Fabio Vieira (Substitute) – 5
The midfielder did very little wrong but failed to inject energy into his side in the way Arteta would have hoped.
Takehiro Tomiyasu (Substitute) – N/A
The defender was only on the pitch for ten minutes and was not involved all that much.
