Casemiro Suspended: Manchester United Predicted Lineup for Arsenal Showdown

Manchester United Training Session as the Team Prepares for Arsenal

Manchester United Predicted Lineup vs Arsenal

How Manchester United Have Lined-up Recently

Unlike their opponents, the Red Devils’ starting eleven changes fairly often, however, the system in which they play remains constant. Ten Hag sets his team up in a 4-2-3-1 formation, with club legend David De Gea usually playing in goal. A back four usually consisting of Luke Shaw, Lisandro Martinez, Raphael Varane, and Diogo Dalot has seen Aaron Wan-Bissaka introduced at right-back after Dalot suffered an injury.

Casemiro has been the man tasked with protecting that backline, which allows those ahead of him to play with freedom. Marcus Rashford is their man in form right now and has been scoring goals for fun from United’s left flank. New signing Wout Weghorst was also in the starting lineup last time out.

Manchester United Tactics

This Manchester United side is incredibly versatile under Ten Hag, and that has been shown in their last two Premier League fixtures.

During their 2-1 victory against rivals Manchester City, United soaked up the pressure and predominantly played on the counter. So much so that the Red Devils managed just 29% possession in that game.

However, their next match, in which they played Crystal Palace, saw Ten Hag’s side record 61% possession, demonstrating that they also have the qualities needed to play on the front foot against weaker opposition.

In this game though, expect them to adopt a similar style to the one they deployed against Man City, after all, that was how they secured their 3-1 victory over the Gunners earlier in the season.

Manchester United Injuries to Consider

Speaking ahead of the match, Ten Hag revealed that Jadon Sancho was making “the next step” in his recovery, although the 22-year-old still remains a huge doubt for this game.

Also, there are also doubts about Diogo Dalot and Anthony Martial, with the Dutchman admitting he is unsure whether either of the pair will be available for the match. Defensive midfielder Casemiro is also unavailable for selection after picking up his fifth yellow card of the season against Crystal Palace, meaning the Brazilian will be suspended for the game.

Manchester United Predicted Lineup

Erik ten Hag is expected to name a similarly conservative starting eleven to the one that secured a shock 2-1 victory against Manchester City. That match saw Bruno Fernandes deployed at right wing, with Christian Eriksen moved into a more advanced role, which allowed for two defensive midfielders. A similar tactic could see Manchester United’s lineup as follows:

  • David De Gea
  • Aaron Wan-Bissaka
  • Raphael Varane
  • Lisandro Martinez
  • Luke Shaw
  • Scott McTominay
  • Fred
  • Bruno Fernandes
  • Christian Eriksen
  • Marcus Rashford
  • Wout Weghorst
