Liverpool are not thinking about sending Arthur Melo back to Juventus in the January transfer window, confirms Fabrizio Romano. The Reds plan to fulfil the entirety of the loan agreement and keep the Brazilian midfielder in their squad until the end of the season.

Arthur Focused On Regaining Fitness to Start Liverpool Career
Romano has confirmed that representatives of both Arthur and the Merseyside club have denied rumours that there is talk going on about sending the midfielder back to the Serie A club at the start of next year. Jurgen Klopp has the 26-year-old in his plans for this season and wants to use him as a way to reshuffle his midfield.

Arthur is currently focused on getting back to his best condition before he can start his career with the Reds. He made his debut for Liverpool in the 4-1 loss to Napoli in their opening game of the Champions League, but only for 13 minutes. The Brazilian has realised that he will not get to play regularly unless he has regained his peak fitness and properly adapted to the style of the Premier League club.
Arthur Looking to Regain His Touch at Liverpool
The Brazilian midfielder is considering his loan spell at Anfield as a chance to reignite his career after seeing it nose dive in recent years. Arthur gained prominence at Barcelona, for whom he made 72 appearances – scoring four goals and providing six assists at the time. The 26-year-old joined Juventus in 2020 in a move that also saw Miralem Pjanic go the other way to Camp Nou, but the move didn’t prove to be as successful as the midfielder would’ve wanted.
Arthur struggled with fitness issues at the Italian club, suffering seven injuries in the space of two seasons and missed 23 games for them. He made 63 appearances for the Old Lady, only scoring one goal and providing one assist in all competitions. Despite his recent struggles, Arthur is regarded as a really talented, versatile midfielder who can adapt to different scenarios.

Brazil manager Tite hailed his ball-progression ability as well as his passing style after he made his debut against the USA in 2018. His national teammate Alisson recently dubbed him as a ‘fantastic player’. Arthur is here to stay (for now) at Anfield and just needs to improve his fitness levels and rediscover his spark to ensure that his loan spell doesn’t turn out to be a dud.
