If Nottingham Forest hadn’t been busy enough already, the club have pulled a few more deals out of nowhere today. Another striker in the form of Michy Batshuayi may well arrive and there is player at the other end of the field too, one who Tottenham Hotspur fans will know about. Fabrizio Romano is reporting that former Spurs defender Serge Aurier is under consideration.

A Window Like No Other
Starting first with the man in question, Serge Aurier, who is currently a free agent. He had a hit-and-miss tenure in North London, described by Roy Keane as a “Car Crash”, before joining La Liga outfit Villarreal, under the stewardship of Unai Emery. This would then of course be a deal with no fee involved but the former Tottenham defender may well demand a sizable wage.

The Ivorian international would bring vast experience to the table having of course played for Paris Saint-Germain before coming to England. Djed Spence occupied that position last season but he is now a Tottenham man himself. Neco Williams is the man to take on this mantle and the ex-Liverpool man has been exciting so far for Nottingham Forest. Aurier would provide great depth and as it would be a free transfer, the imminent deadline doesn’t provide an issue.
Alongside the Aurier chatter, former Chelsea man Michy Batshuayi is being firmly spoken about as someone who could arrive at the City Ground. The Belgian forward spent two years on loan with Crystal Palace and so is no stranger to the Premier League. He infamously scored the goal that won the Blues the title during Antonio Conte’s reign but hasn’t been afforded all that many opportunities at Stamford Bridge.

What Has Come of the Former Tottenham Defender?
As previously mentioned, Aurier is currently without a club. He was most recently in Spain with Villarreal and not only did the stalwart captain Mario Gaspar move on to Watford, but the former Tottenham defender also wasn’t offered a new deal. Remarkably, Juan Foyth who has also donned the Lilywhite shirt, is the man now tasked with playing that role at the Estadio de la Cerámica.
Aurier was hot under the collar from time to time with Spurs but if this energy is used correctly, newly promoted teams can always use fight and desire.
