Matt O'Riley

Manchester United are now considering a move for Celtic star Matt O’Riley, reports Samuel Luckhurst of Manchester Evening News.

Impressing Wherever He Goes

O’Riley has garnered interest from the Manchester United hierarchy after impressing in his short spell at Celtic Park. The player moved to the Scottish Premiership from League One side Milton Keynes Dons in January after the club met his £1.5 million release clause.

The 21-year-old has racked up impressive figures since joining the Bhoys with four goals and five assists in 25 appearances. This form has put him on the watchlist of Manchester United.

A New Midfield Target for United

The Red Devils have decided on a midfield overhaul this summer. After a poor season on all fronts, new manager Erik ten Hag wants new recruitments in midfield.

The club has since recruited free agent Christian Eriksen and Casemiro but with the departures of Paul PogbaAndreas Pereira and Nemanja Matic, the Red Devils boss still wants new reinforcements. His main target, Frenkie De Jong, now seems more unlikely to come and the club has moved on to new targets.

O’Riley seems to be the new target for the United hierarchy in the closing days of the window. It is still not clear whether the club will make a further push for the player, especially after the megabucks splashed in the acquisition of Antony from Ajax.

How Good is Matt O’Riley?

Matt O’Riley is an exciting talent. The attacking midfielder has put in impressive performances since signing for Celtic, helping Ange Postecoglou’s side to the Scottish Premiership title last campaign. The Denmark youth international has an exciting eye for goal and finds creative passing solutions in impossible areas.

Manchester United have built a reputation for deadline-day moves over the past few years and this deal will be one to keep an eye on as the transfer window draws to an end.
