Conor Coady

Everton Set for Wolves Defender Swoop With Amadou Onana Deal Also Close

Everton are close to completing a deal for Wolves centre-back Conor Coady, as per the latest report from Fabrizio Romano.

The Italian journalist also suggests that the West Midlands club are about to announce the signing of Amadou Onana “soon”.

Everton Close To Signing Two Players Including Conor Coady

Toffees To Bolster Defence With Coady Signing

The centre-back will reportedly be signing on a loan deal but with a buy clause included. According to Romano, Coady has almost reached an agreement on personal terms, with the player wanting the move.

Personal terms almost agreed, Coady wants the move. Details discussed while Onana will be announced as new Everton player soon.

Coady was a product of Liverpool’s youth system and did make a Premier League appearance for the Reds. After going out on loan to Sheffield United, chipping in five goals in 39 appearances, Coady moved to Huddersfield Town for a season.

Then, Coady was snapped up by Wolves in 2015, where the player has since racked up 273 league appearances. He has also made 10 caps for England.

Coady to the Rescue in Everton Injury Crisis

Coady would be a more than welcome addition at Goodison Park, especially with injuries to Ben Godfrey and Yerry Mina in the opening match of the Premier League season. Godfrey is likely to be sidelined for a prolonged period having suffered a “small fracture” in his leg according to boss Frank Lampard. Mina sustained an injury to his ankle which has put yet another dent in the Toffee’s backline.

Lampard said: “[Ben Godfrey’s injury] feels like it is a small fracture of his leg. We are assessing that. He will be out for a while, Mina is an ankle injury and could be out for a while. When it rains, it pours.”

Everton fans were happy to see Onana Amadou in the director’s box in the narrow 1-0 defeat against Chelsea. But while the addition of a defensive midfielder is welcome, the fans and the manager will be expecting the club to arrange a deal for a recognised striker. Everton had to play Antony Gordon up front who struggled against Chelsea’s experienced defenders.

Work to do for Everton as the end of the transfer window fast approaches.
