Fabrizio Romano Reveals Chelsea ‘Ready to Go Big’ to Sign Manchester United Target

Frenkie de Jong

The most talked about transfer saga of this summer has taken another twist with Fabrizio Romano confirming in his latest YouTube video that Chelsea have made contact with Barcelona and the representatives of Frenkie de Jong, with the West London club “ready to go big” in their pursuit of the Dutch international but only once they receive a ‘yes’ from the player.

Frenkie de Jong: Chelsea ‘Ready to Go Big’ for Dutch International

The De Jong Transfer Saga Rumbles On

Manchester United and Chelsea both remain interested in signing the Dutch International with Barcelona needing to sell to ease their financial woes or convince the player to take a significant pay cut, but according to Romano: “Frenkie has no intention to accept a salary cut”, which will encourage both Premier League clubs in their continued pursuit of the La Liga star.

The player’s desire to remain at Camp Nou is the biggest hurdle for both clubs to overcome as the Red Devils already have an agreement with the Catalan giants for £71.7 million but no agreement with the player, with the Old Trafford club “pushing on players side”, and Chelsea waiting on a ‘yes’ from De Jong before making an official bid.

What Qualities the Dutch International Brings to Any New Club

De Jong would bring an abundance of ability to either Manchester United or Chelsea, with his ability to resist pressure and look comfortable on the ball, which are valuable qualities to have when playing in the Premier League. He has an impressive football brain, which enables him to find space, a quality both clubs need in midfield, with Old Trafford suffering significant losses with Paul Pogba and Juan Mata departing Old Trafford.

De Jong is a defender’s dream making himself available to receive the ball, which highlights his excellent football brain, and once on the ball, he is adept at keeping attacks flowing with accurate and decisive passing, which would benefit both teams.
