Everton have offered striker Nathan Broadhead a new contract according to The Athletic. The 24-year-old had a successful loan season at Sunderland helping them to promotion. The Black Cats have been pursuing the forward all summer; however, they have had to wait until the Toffees decided on his future.
According to the report, a host of Championship clubs are interested in the Welshman and it appears that should Broadhead accept the contract offered then he will be back out on loan in the near future.
Everton Offer New Contract to Striker Nathan Broadhead
The report from The Athletic reads: Broadhead, a star performer as Sunderland won promotion from League One last season, is attracting interest from a host of Championship clubs, including a possible return to the Stadium of Light. Everton have offered the 24-year-old a new deal and have so far refused to countenance offers to part with him permanently. Movement is expected on a loan destination soon.
Successful Loan Spell
Nathan Broadhead enjoyed a successful season at Sunderland last campaign. Despite injuries, the striker, who can also play as a winger scored 13 goals in 27 appearances. 10 of these goals were in 15 starts for the club.
The Wales U21 international enjoyed a season that not only brought goals and impressive performances for himself personally but also brought promotion to Sunderland following four years in League One. Wherever he ends up playing, fans will remember him for helping the club finally get back to the Championship.

Following Broadhead’s highly successful loan at Sunderland, Everton boss Frank Lampard rightly wanted to take a closer look at the player for himself before deciding where his future lay. However, following the Toffees friendlies in the USA where Broadhead failed to make an appearance, it appeared that the striker would be allowed to leave permanently.
It now appears that Lampard and Everton have decided that the player who currently has just one year left on his current contract, could have a long-term future at Goodison Park. Or, another successful loan spell could increase the player’s value ahead of a potential sale next summer.
Sunderland Have Declared their Interest
According to a report in the Sunderland Echo, The Black Cats made contact with Everton earlier this summer with a view to the striker returning to the Stadium of Light permanently or on another loan.
Sporting Director Kristjaan Speakman spoke to the Sunderland Echo shortly after promotion was achieved. He said “We will have a conversation with Everton this week, to see where they are at with it and where we are at with it, and see if that’s aligned. We have to respect the fact that he is an Everton player.
“We have seen him as our player for the year, because we had to get the best out of him but now that the season is finished he, unfortunately, goes back to being an Everton player.
