Juventus endured a disappointing season in Serie A, finishing fourth and 16 points behind champions AC Milan. According to Fabrizio Romano, the club are on the verge of announcing two huge free agent summer signings, with the transfers of Paul Pogba and Angel di Maria set to be officially completed next week.

Juventus Set to Bolster Squad With Two Key Signings

Juventus are closing in on completing the signings of World Cup winner Pogba and Argentine international Di Maria. As Pogba’s departure from Manchester United was confirmed, it was expected he would return to The Old Lady. He enjoyed a highly productive spell in Turin, appearing 177 times, scoring 34 times and providing 40 assists, winning plaudits for his performances for Juventus.

Despite the expectation of the Turin giants announcing Di Maria, they are still waiting on him to give his final approval on the contract offered by Juventus. The Paris Saint-Germain star has remained quiet on the offer from the Italian club while remaining disappointed about not receiving a new contract offer from the French champions.

After finishing a distant fourth last campaign, Juventus will be eager to close the gap on AC Milan. Di Maria will bring a winning mentality to the Allianz Stadium. He has won many honours in Paris, including five Ligue 1 titles. His statistics throughout his time at PSG prove his threat in the final third remains as potent as ever, where he scored 93 times in 295 appearances.

 

The return of Pogba will please all connected to The Old Lady. He was sensational during his first spell in Turin. He looks set to operate on the left side of a midfield three in a role where he has excelled during his career. A significant aim for Massimiliano Allegri will be to get the ex-Manchester United star back to his mesmeric best.
