Lille Pushing for Sven Botman to Join Premier League Club

The 22-year-old was targeted by Newcastle in the January transfer window following their Saudi-backed takeover but stayed with Lille until the end of the current campaign.
This season, Botman turned out 34 times in all competitions as Lille finished in a disappointing tenth position in Ligue 1.
Newcastle have already strengthened ahead of next summer with the signing of England international Nick Pope from Burnley.

Problems for Milan
Like Newcastle, Serie A champions AC Milan have also been an admirer of the defender for some time, but they are yet to table a bid for the Dutchman.
Despite that, they have held talks over the player. They have also reportedly agreed a yearly salary of £2.5 million, although Di Marzio suggests the Magpies have offered £8.5 million more.
Lille Need to Sell
The reason for Lille pushing for Botman to move to the Premier League is purely for financial reasons. The Ligue 1 side are in a “tricky financial situation” – one which could cost club president Olivier Létang his job.

Despite the ongoing interest from Newcastle and Milan, Létang may even hold out amid new interest from Paris Saint-Germain, who could end up paying even more than what the Premier League club have offered.
