Manchester United man Andreas Pereira has scored a fantastic volley while on loan with Brazilian club Flamengo. Earlier on Saturday, the midfielder netted magnificently from the edge of the box in his side’s 3-1 defeat at the hands of third-placed Internacional.

Looking for a Place in Erik ten Hag’s Midfield
The Brazil international has been out of favour at Old Trafford for some time. Nicknamed the “preseason Pirlo”, Pereira has failed to impress for United when it counts, and as such lost any sort of influence in Manchester.
He joined Italian club Lazio in the summer transfer window of 2020, but was unable to become a regular starter, earning just 528 minutes of league football during his time in Rome.
He then joined Flamengo last summer, but once again has not become a particularly important part of the squad.
There were strong rumours that the Brazilian side would activate the option to buy in Pereira’s loan deal, but they appear to have made something of a u-turn, and will now allow him to return to the Theatre of Dreams later this summer.

This gives the 26-year-old perhaps one last chance to earn a place in United’s team. With new boss Erik ten Hag having recently started work at Carrington, Pereira has the opportunity to make a fresh impression.
As Paul Pogba, Juan Mata, and Jesse Lingard, all of whom play in a similar position to the Brazilian, will leave United when their deals expire this summer, Ten Hag will be looking for a cheap replacement. If such a player is already contracted to the club, this appears to be the perfect solution, and Pereira will hope that moments like his recent volley will prove his worth to the Dutch manager.
