Manchester United Considering Move for £260k Per Week Free Agent Who Could Unlock Their Midfield

Christian Eriksen

Manchester United are looking at a Christian Eriksen transfer this summer, according to Laurie Whitwell of The Athletic. The report suggests that United have admired Eriksen for some time, and his current situation and availability on a free transfer makes him a very attractive prospect for the Manchester side.

Manchester United Considering Christian Eriksen Transfer

A Fantastic Opportunity

This could be a great opportunity for the Red Devils.

Eriksen has played very well for Brentford since his return to football in January, and his ability to play at the very top of the game cannot be underestimated. The Dane has an incredible ability to unlock defences with his passing, and that alone could be invaluable for United.

He could be a free replacement for the departing duo Juan Mata and Jesse Lingard, as United now only have Bruno Fernandes to call on in attacking midfield. With Paul Pogba also leaving this summer, Erik ten Hag now has very few creative options in the middle of the park, and thus will be looking at new additions.

Among the Manchester side’s summer targets is Frenkie de Jong, who would be an incredible signing for a team not even in the Champions League. Combined with the signature of Eriksen and a new defensive midfielder, this summer could represent a massive rebuild for United in a position they have struggled with for many years.

With a summer transfer budget set at £120 million, United will have to be smart about their business this summer. A move for De Jong would take up over half of that, leaving little for strengthening other areas. Among the positions in which the Red Devils will look to sign new recruits this summer are striker and defensive midfielder.
