Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain target Christopher Nkunku has revealed where he would like to be playing football next season. The young attacker said: “Paris is my home, my favourite club. I don’t close any doors. Everything is possible in football”. This appears to be a major blow for the Red Devils, especially with PSG already having the advantage of Champions League football next season. It seems that if both clubs come calling, the Frenchman will likely choose to return to his home country.
Nkunku did also mention that: “it’s nice to have the biggest clubs in the world interested in me. But it’s also great to see that Leipzig are doing everything to keep me”.

A Blow for United
Without the promise of Champions League football, it will not be easy for the Manchester side to attract top-class talent this summer. While their interest in Frenkie de Jong is strong, rumours suggest it could be a challenge for them to convince him to move to Old Trafford while the Red Devils are not in Europe’s most elite club competition. Equally, the likes of Darwin Nunez are in high demand, and when it comes to deciding between some of the biggest football clubs in the world, the Europa League does not carry much weight at all.
With Nkunku holding a love of the city of Paris and PSG themselves, it may be very difficult for Erik ten Hag to land this campaign’s Bundesliga Player of the Season, regardless of how convincing the Manchester United project may be.
Although their priority is the centre of midfield, the Red Devils are also looking to bolster their attacking options this summer, especially as come the start of next season they will be two strikers – Mason Greenwood and Edinson Cavani – short of where they were 12 months earlier. This situation could worsen if offers come in for Anthony Martial, but some solace can be taken in the recently revealed large transfer budget that Ten Hag will be given to utilise this summer.
