Angel Di Maria has said his goodbyes to Paris Saint-Germain and is now set to leave the club on a free transfer. According to Fabrizio Romano, the former Manchester United wide man is in advanced talks with Serie A side Juventus over a move to Italy. All that’s left is for both sides to reach a full agreement.
Angel Di Maria Departing PSG for Italy
A Successful Stint
Angel Di Maria joined Paris Saint-Germain after an unsuccessful season with Manchester United in July of 2015. The former Real Madrid man used his move to Paris to prove himself and live up to the quality that many expected of him in a red shirt. During his time at Paris Saint-Germain, Di Maria has been a regular fixture in the team, playing just under 300 games for the club in his time there. In those games, he scored 91 goals and has regularly set up goals for his teammates, notching a massive number of assists during his time in Paris.
Changes
Juventus are facing a summer of change as a number of players are set to leave. Long time playmaker Paulo Dybala has confirmed his desire to leave, long-time servant Georgio Chiellini is departing and Federico Bernardeschi is also leaving. This leaves Juventus with a lot of gaps to fill in their squad, one of which they are aiming to fill with the signing of Angel Di Maria.
Not only is Di Maria a veteran presence but he is a direct replacement for winger Bernardeschi and could be key to replacing the playmaking abilities of Paulo Dybala who could score as well as set up an attack. In addition to Di Maria, there are strong hints that Paul Pogba is being seen as a major target for the Italian club.
