Paris Saint-Germain are reported to be interested in signing Paul Pogba and Aurélien Tchouaméni this summer.
Le Parisien have reported that the French club wants to bring in the two midfield talents to play alongside Marco Verratti.
Paris Saint-Germain Look To Bolster Midfield
French Duo Targeted
After their disappointing Champions League exit to Real Madrid, PSG are already looking to improve their squad for next season.
The Parisiens are keen to downsize their midfield options before bringing in Pogba and Tchouameni, with Leandro Paredes and Idrissa Gueye being rumoured to be offloaded.
Tchouameni is rumoured to be PSG’s priority. The Monaco midfielder’s value is estimated to be between £80-100 million.
It may be a struggle for PSG to get their man though as it is rumoured the Frenchman wants a move abroad.
Paris Saint-Germain Weary of Pogba
Le Parisien also reported that although Pogba would be a free transfer, PSG are aware of the risks that come with these types of signings. Sergio Ramos and Georginio Wijnaldum both joined the club last summer on free transfers and have failed to impress.
PSG are also aware that Pogba’s agent, Mino Riola, may also be tough to negotiate with.
During the international break, Pogba spoke to Le Figaro about his time at Manchester United, he said: “You have to be honest, these last five seasons have not satisfied me — really not at all. This year is dead, we won’t win anything. Whether it’s with Manchester United or another club, I want to win trophies.
“It’s simple with France, I play and I play in my position. I know my role and I feel the confidence of the coach and the players. It’s normal to feel a difference at Manchester United because it’s hard to be consistent when you often have a change to your position, or the team system, or your [midfield] partners.
Pochettino’s Future Yet to be Decided
Before PSG make these signings, there are questions on whether Mauricio Pochettino will remain at the club next season.
An underwhelming season and heavy rumours linking the Argentine to the Manchester United job has left PSG fans unhappy.
Pochettino told Foot Mercato: “If it is possible to stay at PSG next season? For the moment, I am not discussing my future with the leaders of the club.
“I have one year left on my contract. It is important to analyse before making a decision. Of course, we will also respect the decision taken by the club for the future. What will happen will happen.”
