Adama Traore’s Move to Tottenham Hotspur Takes Leap

Adama Traore's move

Adama Traore’s proposed move to Tottenham Hotspur is starting to move closer to a conclusion with Tim Spiers of The Athletic reporting that the two clubs are now getting closer together in their idea of the player’s value. Spurs’ initial offer of £15 million for the wide man was rejected on Thursday, but with the London club extremely keen to complete the transfer, it is highly likely that it will go through before the end of January.

Deal Moves Closer For Adama Traore’s Move to Tottenham Hotspur

£20 Million Valuation

Wolverhampton Wanderers rejected Tottenham’s bid of £15 million on Thursday, with the Midlands club holding out for a fee closer to £20 million. It now seems that the North London side are ready to meet Wolves’ valuation with Antonio Conte keen to add the powerful player to his squad. Conte sees Traore as being a right wing-back and is said to not feel that Emerson Royal offers enough attacking threat in the final third. The same, though, can be said of Traore who has frustrated Wolves fans with his powerful and fast runs that have often led to little end product. Conte feels he can cultivate that side of his game.

Conte famously played Victor Moses as a wing-back when in charge at Chelsea and rejuvenated a stalling career. Moses went on to be an integral part of helping Chelsea to win the 2014/15 Premier League title.

Spurs’ Long Term Interest

Tottenham showed interest in the summer transfer window of 2021 but Wolves were keen to try and get him to sign a new extended deal with his current contract expiring in 18 months’ time. Conte wants to expand Tottenham’s attacking options and sees Traore as being a player who can create space for his other attacking players such as Son Heung-min, Harry Kane and Lucas Moura with the flying winger often preoccupying opponents with his marauding runs.
