Casemiro has extended his contract with Real Madrid until 2025. The Brazil international midfielder joined Real Madrid in 2013, and spent time in the youth system and on loan at Porto before breaking into the side.

Integral Part of the Team
Casemiro is now an integral part of the Real Madrid team. The defensive midfielder is among the first names on the team sheet, and Real struggle on the pitch in his absence. He made his senior debut in 2010 for Sau Paulo in the Brazilian Serie A. He made 111 appearances for the club, and won the 2012 Copa Sudamericana. In January 2013, he moved to Real Madrid on loan, playing initially for the B-side in the Segunda Division. He made his senior debut in April of that year, and subsequently made his move permanent in the summer.
Casemiro has made 288 appearances in a Real Madrid shirt so far, scoring 30 goals. He was part of Real’s record Champions League winning sides of 2014, 2016, 2017 and 2018. The 29-year old is among the senior players now in a squad that includes younger players such as Fede Valverde, Vinicius Junior and more. During his time in the Spanish capital, he has become a fan favourite, and continues to be much loved.
New La Liga Era Ushered in
It’s a new La Liga era that’s coming up now. For years, the league could boast of hoarding arguably the world’s best players. When Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi would line up against each other in the El Clasico, the entire world would watch. Both have now left the league, with Lionel Messi’s move to PSG coming three years after Cristiano Ronaldo moved to Serie A side Juventus. A Luis Suarez-inspired Atletico Madrid won the league last season, and both of their rivals are arguably weaker.
Barcelona will rely upon the likes of Memphis Depay, Griezmann, Sergio Aguero annd Martin Braithwaite. Real, meanwhile, will be hoping for a sustained injury-free run from Eden Hazard, although it could get better for the 2019-20 La Liga champions if their push to sign Kylian Mbappe comes to fruition. Whether or not that move happens, however, it is all the more important to keep their core players. With Raphael Varane and Sergio Ramos gone, Casemiro is now more crucial than ever.
