West Ham United are reportedly edging ever-closer to signing Kurt Zouma from London rivals Chelsea. According to Standard Sport’s Jack Rosser, the France defender will undergo a medical ahead of a £25 million transfer to the London Stadium.
Zouma is understood to currently be in France for personal reasons, meaning his medical will take place in Paris. As a result, the 26-year-old will need to complete a ten-day quarentine upon his return to the UK unless he has been double-jabbed against Covid-19.

Defender Could Join a Formidable Hammers Defence
West Ham have been relatively quiet in this summer’s transfer market in comparison to other Premier League clubs, which has led to discontent among some supporters despite the team’s performance last season.
The club’s key arrivals include goalkeeper Alphonse Areola on loan from Paris Saint-Germain, and the permanent transfer of centre-back Craig Dawson, who was on loan from Watford last season. Outgoings from the London Stadium means the Hammers have currently recouped more money than they have spent this summer in terms of transfer dealings.
However, that will all change if the deal to sign Zouma goes through. David Moyes has been keen to add another established top-flight centre-back to his squad to play alongside Dawson, who has been an impressive performer at the heart of West Ham’s backline.
European champions Chelsea have been willing to sell Zouma throughout this transfer window, with negotiations over the player’s wages a primary factor as to why West Ham have yet to officially conclude the deal.
When Could Zouma Make His Debut for West Ham?
If the transfer gets completed over the coming hours or days, Zouma’s vaccination status will likely dictate when Hammers supporters will first be able to see their new recruit in action.
Either way, the Frenchman would be expected to link up with Moyes’ squad after the upcoming international break. The Hammers’ final league fixture before then sees them take on Crystal Palace this weekend. Southampton will then play host to David Moyes’ side on 11 September, by which time Hammers fans will hope Zouma is a West Ham player.
