BBC Sport reporter Simon Stone has tweeted that Arsenal’s Ainsley Maitland-Niles is attracting interest from a trio of Premier League clubs, Leicester City, Southampton and Burnley.
Arsenal’s Ainsley Maitland-Niles Attracting Interest in Transfer Window
Arsenal Looking to Sell Maitland-Niles
Mikel Arteta has a number of talented young players at Arsenal but is looking to raise funds by selling some of them, including Maitland-Niles. The midfielder is reported to be attracting interest in the transfer window from three Premier League clubs.
The other players that may be sold according to BBC Football are Joe Willock, who spent last season on loan at Newcastle United, and Reiss Nelson.
Frustration
There is little doubt that Maitland-Niles is a good player as he has played in over 100 games for Arsenal, but he has never quite hit the heights that many had expected of him and he struggled to show what his best position is. With the emergence of Bukayo Sako, who hugely impressed for England at the European Championships, it has become an even tougher task for the player to get game time and he may be better looking at igniting his career at another Premier League club.
Desire to Leave
In an interview with The Telegraph this summer, Maitland-Niles did not hide his frustration or his desire to leave the North London club.
He said: “If it works out, it works out, if it doesn’t then kiss Arsenal goodbye. It’s been a long journey but a proud one at that. Maybe they still want to do something & things could change. If not, there’s always other teams.”
He went on to challenge the club to provide him with some clarity over his future. “I want a decision. I want some clarity,” he added.
It now seems that decision has been made and it is a case of which club Arsenal and the player choose to do business with.
